29 weeks

Yesterday we went to the hospital for a tour and we learned quite a bit. I'm pretty happy with the set-up. If all goes to plan, I will labor and deliver in one room, and, when we're ready, me and baby get cleaned up and go to another room for the rest of our stay (probably about 2 days after the baby is born). The midwife who teaches our childbirthing class lead the group and showed us all the tricks (like where the warm blankets are kept and which rooms have jacuzzi tubs). She also showed us all the scary "what if" instruments -- which were, as you'd expect, a little scary -- especially when you see them all together. I had to keep reminding myself that they wouldn't use all of them at the same time. All in all though, I felt pretty happy with the setup. It did kinda drive it home that this is actually going to happen. I am going to be there in a few months because I'm having a baby. Wow. Totally unreal to me -- but soon to be very real.

Other things to note on this end: We had an appointment on Monday -- I'm definitely gaining weight now, but still in the healthy zone. My belly measured 27 cm and baby's heartrate was about 150 bpm. We went over our birth plan with the doctor and seem to be on the same page with everything so that's refreshing. I was kinda hoping she'd be able to tell us what position baby is in. She did try, but unfortunately, she said it was still a little too small to tell -- she said probably at our next appointment (which is 2 weeks from tomorrow).

Well, that's all the news here. Work is mad-busy since everyone is gone for spring break so I better hop to it!
